About driving school: Our aim at WIGHTDRIVE is to provide our pupils with all the necessary driving skills to be safe and competent drivers at a reasonable lesson price. Our lessons are conducted in modern fully air conditioned Ford Fiesta dual-controlled cars. Whilst we only operate a fleet of manual transmission cars we can offer automatic lessons in your own vehicle or with an associate instructor. We have access to all of the latest training aids and training manuals to help you with your theory and hazard perception tests. We will also provide you with a comprehensive progress card on your first lesson. Guidance notes on the various topics which we will cover will also be provided as lessons progress. These cover the driving syllabus and allow you to follow a carefully structured learning plan. Every pupil is an individual and we always strive to tailor each lesson to suit individual needs. We will always aim to be patient and provide the best possible level of tuition. We also like to bring some fun into our lessons. We are currently a very small team of two Department of Transport Approved Driving Instructors. We are CRB checked and regularly undergo training and assessment checks. We aim to provide a very reliable service to our students. As part of our pre-test preparation we usually offer students the opportunity to undergo a mock test with a different instructor. This provides valuable feedback and also prepares students for the more stressful test situation. Feedback from our students is very positive on this part of our service and our analysis suggests that a higher number of test passes occur as a result. Post test we aim to follow up your progress as a new driver and offer a refresher lesson with feedback. This can be undertaken in your car, cover areas of concern and even redress those parking issues! The Pass Plus course enables students to gain the ‘mainland’ driving experience and covers dual carriageways and motorways plus adverse weather and night time driving should those situations not have been covered or encountered on lessons. You will even be able to drive on and off the ferry! From time to time we receive enquiries from older drivers who wish to refresh their skills and even regain their confidence. We particularly enjoy the challenge of training drivers from overseas to work on their existing skills to obtain a UK license. Lessons are provided on the Isle of Wight but the opportunity also exists for some lessons to take place in the Portsmouth and South Hampshire area.
